I can see where Gaia is coming from. Most of the comments on global warming and climate change from people on conspeeracy blogs and forums are based on nothing other than the writers’ unsupported pensees. I’ve got no dog in the race myself, Indeed global warming, if it’s really occurring, isn’t going to be uniformly bad, it would be probably quite good in some places but might lead to gradual migrations of population. . We have to rely on the eeexperts who make the measurements and find the rate of change of their parameters. Can we verify them? Of course not. It’s not like can look at images of the silver foil and wrapping paper of the moon lander or the fake blood on the Boston sidewalk [we can also look in vain for duping delight on the faces of atmospheric chemists] and make a good call even when we’re not experts in the relevant fields. What sets off our BS detectors in the climate debate? I have no idea. So we don’t believe the figures. Based on what? That there’s a growing industry [including the academic industry] relating to climate change? All I know is that rising standards of living [which is what all politicians want or need to say to be re-elected] only ever result in more “going up the chimney” – even if it’s relocated industry – as a result of increased travel, trade and material consumption.
